Hello Friends!!Welcome to myblogclic. Today, let me share with you the gateway of the Himalayan tourist destination. Do you know that city? That city is called Dheradun. It is the capital city of Uttrakhand province in India. This city is called ‘’Rainy city of India’’. This city name has made up from two words, “Dehra’’ is meaning home and “Doon’’ is from Doonvalley. By the way, Dheradun is mainly situated at Doon valley and 450 meters above sea level. This city is famous for its charming valley and landscape and the river Ganga on the east and the river Yamuna on the west side. Wow, you can enjoy the flavor of delicious Indo-Tibetan foods in Dheradun. This city is famous for its Basmati rice as well as its bakery product. Let me tell you, the city can be visited throughout the year.

Basically, Dheradun is between latitude 29 °58′ N and 31°2’N and longitudes 77° 34′ E and 78° 18’E.The climate of this city is often continental and during the rainy season, there is continuous rainfalls in the city. The temperature of winter season normally 1-20 °C. However, the city is famous for its historical and geographical status. In the matter of fact, it’s believed that in ancient India, during Mahabharata era, the great teacher Dronacharya who lived in this city. There are so many places which can be visited in Dheradun. Before we go through these tourist place, let me share with you how to reach Dheradun. The city is well connected with the measure cities of the country by air, train and roads.

By Road

It is 6-7 hour Journey from Delhi to Dehardun by bus. Either you can use State run buses, Volvo, Deluxe and AC buses every hour from ISBT,Kashmiri gate ,New Delhi or 5 hours drive from hired car service as well.

By Train

Dehradun (Indian Rail Code DDN) is well connected by train to Delhi, Mumbai, Varanasi, Allahabad, Kolkata, Gorakhpur, Amritsar, Indore, Ujjain and Chennai. However, Train journey is more convenient, if you are coming from Delhi.

By Air

The airport is 30kilometers away from main city, is called Jolly Grant Airport-Airport Code (DED).It is advisable to visitors to hire a prepaid taxi or arrange a hotel, if you are travelling by air. Clock Tower-It’s also called Ghanta Ghar.It is one of the most famous land mark in the city. It was built to commemorate India’s independence.

Mahatma Gandhi Park-It is situated at city center and also famous place to visit.

St.Francis Catholic Church-Famous church in Dehradun and located at convent road.

Robber’s Cave, India-located at 8 kilometers away from the city, locally known as Guchhupani. This cave has beautiful naturally designed interior structure.

Malsi Deer Park-It is one of the Zoological Park where we can see two-horned deer, Tiger, Nilgai, Peacock and others.  It is also located at 10 kilometers away from Dehradun.

Mindrolling Monastery-This was built on 1965 with Japanese architecture style and believed to be largest Buddhist reliquary in Asia.

Forest Research Institute-It is established 1906 which is the most popular place to visit in the city.It is spreading over 2000 acre extraordinary green field and six world famous museums which are based on timber, on-wood forest products. Even you can see botanical garden here.

Apart from these above famous places you can visit also Sakya Monastry,Buddhist Temple,Kalanga Monument,Tapovan,Lakshman Siddh Peeth,Tapkeshwar  Mahadev Temple,Santala Devi Temple,Prakasheswar Mahadev Temple,Regional Science Center,Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology and Dehradun Zoo.
